Position Overview A Responsible Master Plumber is accountable for the overall supervision and management of plumbing work performed under their license. This role ensures all plumbing operations comply with applicable plumbing and building codes, and that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest professional standards. General supervision and management include obtaining all required permits, scheduling and coordinating inspections, verifying that all individuals performing plumbing work hold current licenses or registrations, ensuring a licensed Master Plumber provides direct oversight at active job sites, and confirming that all service vehicles properly display the company name and Responsible Master Plumber license credentials.

Requirements

  • Current Texas Master Plumber License required.
  • Must be in good standing with the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners (TSBPE).
  • Strong working knowledge of piping practices, drainage systems, and heating equipment.
  • Ability to perform and oversee all aspects of plumbing maintenance work.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, including word-processing and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project plans.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground piping systems.
  • Ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal plumbing codes and regulations.
  • Conduct inspections to identify issues, ensure quality, and resolve potential utility system concerns.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train plumbing staff on best practices and safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with engineers, inspectors, and contractors on project planning and execution.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets to support efficient use of labor and materials.
  • Apply trade expertise to ensure work is completed effectively, efficiently, and in full code compliance.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of piping materials, including steel, cast iron, ductile iron, PVC, copper, glass, CPVC, various plastic tubing, and insulation materials.
  • Serve as the primary technical resource and troubleshooter, using specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to identify problems and restore service.
