About The Position

The Responsible AI Governance and Risk Leader at Ascensus plays a pivotal role in establishing and enforcing a governance framework for responsible AI practices. This position is integral to ensuring that AI initiatives comply with ethical standards, legal requirements, and organizational values while promoting transparency and accountability across the company.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 3 years of risk and/or privacy experience or other relevant discipline preferred.
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and work experience as an attorney is a plus.
• Proven ability to work with interdisciplinary teams including engineering, product development, compliance, and legal.
• Subject matter expertise in AI and experience operationalizing AI principles across the AI lifecycle.
• Familiarity with handling AI-related operational incidents and developing preventative strategies.
• Ability to understand key technical concepts such as model explainability, robustness, and bias.
• Experience with change management and leading cultural shifts to implement AI principles.
• Experience designing and tracking KPIs for ethical AI initiatives.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with various stakeholders.
• Demonstrated integrity, values, principles, and work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert in Responsible AI governance and risk across the organization.
• Interact with key stakeholders including senior leadership, clients, vendors, and regulators to ensure alignment with goals.
• Lead the creation, implementation, and enforcement of AI governance policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with business, product, and technical teams to integrate responsible AI best practices throughout the AI lifecycle.
• Partner with Risk, Compliance, IT, and Information Security to define AI-related risk dimensions and align with the enterprise risk framework.
• Lead the AI Risk Committee and report on AI governance to executive leadership.
• Monitor high-risk AI use cases and guide mitigation strategies based on established protocols.
• Represent Ascensus in contract negotiations with financial institutions and vendors regarding AI-related provisions.
• Ensure compliance of AI initiatives with legal and regulatory requirements, partnering with Legal and Compliance teams.
• Evolve Ascensus' AI governance model and strategy to align with industry best practices and establish KPIs for effectiveness.
