New York City Emergency Management (NYCEM) is a coordinating agency for the City of New York, responsible for planning, preparing for, educating the public about, coordinating emergency response and recovery, and collecting and disseminating emergency information. The agency maintains a disciplined unit of emergency management personnel. The Response Bureau is responsible for monitoring incidents throughout the City, alerting the public and City agencies, initiating NYCEM response, on-scene coordination, and special event planning and coordination. It is comprised of Watch Command, Field Response Unit, and the Response Support Unit, which includes the Special Events team. The mission of the Response Support Unit and the Special Events Team is to ensure the safety and success of special events throughout the city and supporting other aspects of NYCEM’s response operations. They collaborate closely with NYC, state, and federal agencies to provide logistical and operational support, contributing to the resilience and preparedness of New York City. The Response Support Unit is looking for a college aide to support Summer 2026 Special Events, including but not limited to the 2026 FIFA World Cup and Sail 4th 250.
