About the position

The Respite Provider role at Lutheran Services in Iowa involves providing respite care services to families in the Waterloo and surrounding Cedar Valley area. This part-time position is designed to give primary caregivers a break from their daily responsibilities of caring for individuals with disabilities. Respite Providers will have the flexibility to set their own schedules, working a few hours a week or on weekends as needed, and may have the opportunity to work from home after a probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to children or adults with disabilities while their primary caregiver is absent.
• Maintain a safe and nurturing home-based environment for clients.
• Work in the client's home, community, or potentially in the Respite Provider's own home.
• Respond to requests for services from families, which may vary in frequency and duration.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience working with people with disabilities preferred.
• Basic computer skills and access to a laptop/tablet and/or smartphone.

Nice-to-haves

• Good communication skills.
• Ability to set and manage one's own schedule.
