About The Position

As a Respite Provider, you'll offer compassionate support to youth experiencing mental health challenges, providing short-term, structured care in home, school, and community settings. Your role is crucial in helping clients stabilize and avoid hospitalization by delivering one-on-one support and collaborating closely with families and treatment teams. Whether you're offering direct care, leading activities, or keeping detailed documentation, your presence provides safety, consistency, and encouragement as youth work toward their treatment goals.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 21 years-of-age or older
  • Strong oral and written communication skills using the English language.
  • Basic personal computer skills which enable the entry, retrieval and use of electronic data.
  • A valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance is maintained in accordance with Pawnee policy and procedure.
  • Respite Providers in some regions will be required to provide crisis services and therefore will be required to work rotating shifts. There is the possibility of on call work as needed.
  • All employees will be required to submit to and pass a background check and drug screening in accordance with Pawnee policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in a human services field and/or related work experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support and direct services to youth in crisis or needing supervision in homes, schools, the respite house, or community settings, including assisting with daily activities, symptom management, and community outings.
  • Collaborate with families and treatment teams to share client progress, participate in clinical supervision, and ensure services align with treatment plans and budget approvals.
  • Transport clients and travel to service locations using personal or company vehicles as needed.
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record system and follow agency procedures for client incidents, medication compliance, and crisis de-escalation, including physical interventions when necessary.
  • Ensure a safe, stable, and welcoming environment by maintaining cleanliness and order in the respite house during shifts.
