About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist Extern Program is an educational and clinical work experience for respiratory therapy students who have completed their first year of respiratory therapy studies. Observes routine and complex patient procedures along with cleaning and set up of life support equipment. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures. The specific statements in this profile are not intended to be all-inclusive. The Externship Program will run the end of May through early August.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)- (Required)
• Resume required with application.
• Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body

Nice To Haves

• Associate's Degree-Respiratory Therapy (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Disassembles, clean, reassemble and perform quality control checks on reusable equipment.
• Observes and assists with the download of Nocturnal Oximetry reports.
• Auscultates lung sounds and reviews medical records in accordance with patient confidentiality policies, and observes al HIPPA regulations.
• Assembles oxygen therapy devices at bedside. Staff therapist will apply the device to the patient.
• Work is typically performed in a clinical environment.
