About The Position

This job assists the hospital in the respiratory care of patients and performs special technical support services according to level of knowledge/training under the direct supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT). To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Self-directed including the ability to work independently and with supervision.
  • Effective planning, organizing and time management skills.
  • Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy School Program.
  • Hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Respiratory Therapists in patient care with direct supervision of the CRT/RRT.
  • Performs clinical job duties as outlined by departmental Orientation, Assessment, & Evaluation (OAE), training, and competency.
  • Supports respiratory/hospital admin by acceptance of established objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Accurately documents patient related tasks.
  • Maintains professional knowledge and required certifications through growth and development.
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
