About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for performing all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures available through the respiratory department, requiring a complete understanding of the equipment, supplies, indications, contraindications, and physiological effects on the patient. St. Tammany Health System is a full-service acute care facility that provides life-improving procedures with the latest technology, highest quality, and utmost care. It is an independent service district in a clinically integrated partnership with Ochsner Health System, focusing on aligning healthcare offerings for patients and families in west St. Tammany Parish and surrounding areas.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a CoARC approved school of Respiratory Therapy/Cardiopulmonary Science.
• Current Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered or Certified Respiratory therapist.
• Current license by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a licensed respiratory therapist.
• Current BLS and ALS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• NICU and PICU experience
• NRP and PALS certifications

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the performance of all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures available through the respiratory department with complete understanding of the equipment, supplies, indications, and contraindications for use, and physiological effects upon the patient.
