The respiratory care practitioner (RCP) applies scientific knowledge, technical expertise and theory to practical clinical problems and is often required to exercise clinical judgment. Provides therapeutic, diagnostic, consultative and supportive services for neonatal through adult patients and their families. Actively participates in resuscitative and emergent situations. The Transport Respiratory Care Practitioner also provides patient care in a mobile environment to high risk patients and their families being transported to/from Children's Hospital of Wisconsin-Fox Valley. The Transport RCP is responsible for providing quality assessment, therapeutic interventions, and clinical expertise to the neonatal and infant population under two months of age in the transport environment. The RCP may be present for a transport of an older pediatric patient if their presence is requested. Children's Wisconsin is an equal opportunity / affirmative action employer. Requirements

  • Requires current License by the State of Wisconsin as a Respiratory Care Practitioner with current Certified Respiratory Therapist credential.
  • Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification - American Heart Association (AHA) training is required within 3 months.
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification - American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) training is required within 3 months.
  • Transport requirements include passing a pre-placement and annual physical exam and meeting specific health requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist &/or Neonatal Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialist preferred.
  • One year of critical care experience in neonatal, pediatric, or adult critical care ICU experience preferred to perform transport duties.
  • Licensed and certified RCPs with less than 1 year of experience and/or no critical care experience may be considered for transport functions based on provider and leadership discretion.
