About The Position

Join Unicare Health, a leading, innovative supplier of life-sustaining respiratory equipment and services dedicated to serving severely ill patients. Our mission is built on a comprehensive, compassionate service model that prioritizes superior patient outcomes. As we prepare for rapid expansion throughout California and neighboring states, we are seeking dedicated Respiratory Therapists to provide high-touch clinical care in a home setting. This is a critical role responsible for managing complex respiratory patients and ensuring their transition from hospital to home is seamless and safe.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program with a current California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license. RRT or CRT certification required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Respiratory Therapist is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of respiratory care equipment (ventilators, oxygen concentrators, etc.) and basic computer skills for electronic charting.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills with a genuine desire to help others and the ability to deal with difficult situations with equanimity.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs and possess a valid driver’s license for travel throughout Southern California.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in in-patient, home health care, subacute care, or pulmonary rehabilitation is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patient Assessment & Care: Conduct in-home respiratory assessments, treatments, and follow-up care for complex patients with chronic conditions such as neurologic disease, ALS, cystic fibrosis, COPD, asthma, CHF, and those requiring ventilator or tracheostomy support.
  • Equipment Instruction & Safety: Responsible for the setup, instruction, and education of patients and caregivers on the proper use of respiratory equipment, including ventilators, oxygen, and CPAP/BiPAP systems.
  • Clinical Coordination: Communicate with physicians regarding changes in patient conditions and carry out necessary adjustments to the Plan of Care (POC).
  • Documentation & Compliance: Complete all patient account paperwork, including clinical assessments and treatment plans, ensuring all practices adhere to JCAHO standards and company policies.
  • Emergency & On-Call Support: Provide 24-hour on-call service as scheduled and perform emergency visits to resolve equipment issues or patient needs.
  • Patient Advocacy: Serve as a liaison between the company, physician, and family, empowering patients to manage their health journey effectively.
