About The Position

Centrally located in Torrance, California, Sunnyside Nursing and Post-Acute Care provides sub-acute nursing care, rehabilitation services, skilled nursing, and long-term care. Requirements

  • Must Have an active and valid Respiratory Therapist License
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Perform set-up, operation and monitoring of ventilator when resident’s respiratory system is incapable of adequate spontaneous ventilation
  • Assist with admission, transfer and discharge of residents with airway needs as required.
  • Receive/give report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours if assuming a direct care assignment.
  • Provide Oxygen Therapy; tank, tent, mask, cannula, walker, high flow, etc. respiratory care.
  • Coughing and deep breathing instruction and exercises and related maneuvers including, Incentive Spirometry.
  • Aerosol Therapy; Bland and Medicated, Metered dose, Ambient, Ultrasonic, Sputum Induction.
  • Chest therapy.
  • IPPB, CPAP, and BiPAP Therapy
  • Airway maintenance as to oral, nasal, and tracheal suctioning.
  • ABG interpretation and analysis.
  • Consult with the physician and follow protocols for ventilator management including weaning, decannulation, and terminal weaning.
  • Perform assessment of the patient, determining needs related to the frequency and duration of the treatment regime ordered by the MD.
  • Request re-order when necessary and communicates with nurse and MD about discrepancies and concerns.
  • Initiate and follow through with protocols described in the policy and procedure manual and as approved by the department and medical/pulmonology director.
  • Interpret the respiratory department’s policies and procedures to personnel, residents, visitors, and government agencies as required.
