Requirements

  • Previous experience performing pulmonary function testing.
  • National Board of Respiratory Care Certification/Registration in Pulmonary Function Testing (CPFT or RPFT) or obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • Experience with computer systems, including Microsoft office Word, Outlook, Excel, Power point.
  • Graduate of A.M.A. approved certification program for Respiratory Therapy.
  • Two-year program with an Associate Degree in Respiratory Care.
  • Massachusetts License.
  • National Board Certification. CRT or RRT.
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification required

Nice To Haves

  • NPR certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Maintain operation of PFT lab, including performance of pulmonary function testing on patients, appropriate scheduling and registration of outpatients/inpatients referred for testing.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures to ensure effective record keeping processes.
  • Perform efficient/effective quality control/compliance.
  • Adherence to all applicable regulatory agencies: Joint Commission of Allied Health Organization requirements and American Thoracic Society standards.
  • Maintain effective communication tools with physician's offices in order to efficiently receive referrals and process PFT reporting.
  • Understanding of PFT equipment/computer operation, calibration, and trouble-shooting problems that may arise.
  • Understand appropriateness of test values, statistical methodology and assessment of validity/reliability of test results.
