About The Position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner II (RCP II) / Respiratory Therapist (RRT) delivers respiratory therapy treatments and pulmonary diagnostic services in an acute care setting, including assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of care across all patient populations. This full-time, non-exempt position offers relocation assistance for candidates relocating from outside the state of Illinois, competitive pay with shift differentials, and opportunities for career growth within a large healthcare system. The role is located in the Chicago Metro Area, providing a big-city lifestyle, a strong healthcare market, and lakefront living, with no car required. The successful candidate will work in a high-acuity, critical care environment and handle advanced respiratory cases.

Requirements

  • State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required
  • Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
  • ACLS certificate within 60 day of hire and maintain current
  • PALS certificate within 60 days of hire and maintain current
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years experience as an RCP preferred
  • NRP certificate preferred
  • Associate Degree or Bachelor of Science degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administer respiratory therapy treatments (oxygen, aerosol, airway management)
  • Manage ventilators, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow oxygen systems
  • Perform pulmonary diagnostics (ABGs, PFTs)
  • Implement patient-specific respiratory care plans
  • Document care in the EMR
  • Respond to code blue and rapid response events
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support patient outcomes
  • May serve as Lead RCP during assigned shifts
