About The Position

Orchard Post Acute is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Respiratory Therapist to join our clinical team. This role provides respiratory and pulmonary care services to residents with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. The Respiratory Therapist works closely with physicians, nurses, and the interdisciplinary care team to deliver high-quality respiratory therapy services and support optimal resident outcomes. General Purpose The primary purpose of this position is to perform respiratory and pulmonary therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation, and direct care to residents with deficiencies and abnormalities affecting the pulmonary system.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree from an accredited Respiratory Care program required.
  • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program.
  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the State of California.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year respiratory therapy experience in an acute care, subacute, or skilled nursing setting preferred.
  • ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and follow schedules and instructions from the Respiratory Supervisor and facility leadership in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to established facility policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Perform focused interviews to identify specific resident respiratory care needs.
  • Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiological and psychosocial changes in a resident’s condition.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret clinical data from healthcare team members and document actual and/or potential respiratory diagnoses.
  • Develop and implement respiratory care plans based on physician orders and resident assessments.
  • Perform respiratory therapy treatments and interventions according to identified priorities and established care plans.
  • Monitor resident responses to respiratory treatments and adjust therapy as appropriate within scope of practice.
  • Adhere to infection control, safety, and emergency procedures established by the facility.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members regarding resident respiratory status.
  • Report changes in a resident’s respiratory condition to the Respiratory Services Supervisor, primary nurse, and attending physician as appropriate and prior to leaving the facility.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatments, assessments, and resident progress in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff across all departments.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of resident care information including protected health information (PHI).
  • Report suspected or known violations involving unauthorized disclosure of resident information to the Administrator.
  • Assume responsibility, accountability, and authority for assigned duties.
