About The Position

Respiratory Therapists work under the general supervision of a physician and are responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with disorders affecting breathing. Clinical coverage includes Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal populations. Respiratory Therapists perform diagnostic cardiopulmonary evaluations and administer a wide range of respiratory therapy treatments designed to support patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies or dysfunction. This includes acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting diagnostic data from various tests and specimens.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy required
1 year of clinical experience preferred

Responsibilities

Perform Diagnostic Evaluations Independently: Pulmonary function testing Interventional diagnostics Sleep studies Non-invasive and invasive diagnostic procedures Blood gas analysis and other relevant laboratory testing
Administer Respiratory Therapeutics: Medical gas, humidity, and aerosol therapies Artificial airway management and care Airway clearance techniques Invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation Vascular catheter insertion, management, and care Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS)
Conduct Comprehensive Patient Assessments: Physical examinations Interpretation of diagnostic data
Evaluate and Adjust Therapies: Modify therapy based on patient response and laboratory results Conduct regular patient rounds Monitor equipment, make necessary adjustments, and ensure timely removal and cleaning Perform oxygen rounds and titrate as needed Collaborate with physicians regarding therapy recommendations
Manage Acute and Chronic Respiratory Diseases
Provide Collaborative Support for Hemodynamic Stability
Participate in Discharge Planning and Case Management
Deliver Emergency, Acute, Critical, and Post-Acute Care: Patient and environmental assessment Therapeutic interventions Patient transport (land and air)
Ensure Safety and Equipment Maintenance: Respond to Rapid Response and Code Blue events Adhere to departmental policies for quality assurance, safety, and infection control Maintain, troubleshoot, and document equipment performance; report malfunctions promptly
Precept New Staff and Students: Mentor new Respiratory Therapists and support Respiratory Therapy and Nursing students
Maintain Required Certifications: Maintain all required AHA certifications Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required for facilities with Obstetrics departments
