About The Position

Centurion Health is proud to be the provider of comprehensive healthcare services to the Georgia Department of Corrections. We are currently seeking a Part-Time Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Augusta State Medical Prison (ASMP) in Augusta, Georgia. Position Summary The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing comprehensive respiratory care services to patients within a correctional healthcare setting, including those with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. This role supports a medically complex population, including patients requiring oxygen therapy, airway management, and ongoing respiratory monitoring. The Respiratory Therapist works collaboratively with physicians, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and compliant care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential required (RRT preferred)
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Georgia
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in hospital, acute care, or similar setting
  • Current CPR certification required (ACLS preferred or ability to obtain)
  • Current tuberculosis (TB/PPD) screening in accordance with company policy
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and obtain security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high-acuity or medically complex patients preferred
  • Correctional healthcare experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory and cardiopulmonary conditions
  • Administer and manage oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and ventilatory support as applicable
  • Perform respiratory assessments, including breath sounds, pulse oximetry, and other diagnostic measures
  • Assist with airway management and emergency response, including code situations
  • Collaborate with providers to develop and implement respiratory care plans
  • Monitor patient response to therapy and adjust interventions as clinically indicated
  • Educate patients and healthcare staff on respiratory care techniques and disease management
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance, and monitoring of respiratory equipment
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and regulatory readiness activities (ACA, NCCHC, OHS)
