About The Position

As a Respiratory Therapist in Bayonne, you will play a critical role in assessing, treating, and caring for patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders. Your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes by providing therapeutic interventions, managing ventilators, and educating patients and their families on respiratory care. You will collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans. This position requires a compassionate approach to patient care, ensuring comfort and safety while delivering evidence-based respiratory treatments. Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current and valid Respiratory Therapist license in the state of New Jersey or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform respiratory care procedures and operate respiratory equipment safely.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an acute care hospital or critical care setting.
  • Additional certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and documentation software.
  • Strong communication skills for patient education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Ability to participate in quality improvement initiatives and respiratory care research.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients’ respiratory status through physical assessments and diagnostic tests.
  • Administer prescribed respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and mechanical ventilation support.
  • Monitor and adjust ventilator settings based on patient condition and physician orders.
  • Provide education and training to patients and their families on respiratory care techniques and equipment use.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and update individualized patient care plans.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting treatments and responses.
  • Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies and provide critical care support as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards in all respiratory procedures.
