About The Position

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. Position Summary: The registered respiratory technician provides respiratory care treatments and services as specified by a physician and/or departmental policies. Interacts as a team with physicians, RNs, NAs, USs, the patient and their families to develop a plan of care. Communicates with ancillary departments to provide services to the patient and their families. Has contact with a variety of patients of all ages (infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric), as well as the mentally and physically challenged.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred OR Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification by the NBRC
  • Current Illinois license for Respiratory Therapy Technician required.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • PALS preferred.
  • 3-6 months RRT experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Administers respiratory and pulmonary treatments, PFTs, EKGs, ABGs, according to established policies and procedures.
  • Complete and accurate documentation of pertinent information in eMAR
  • Functions within regulatory standards for IDPH, TJC, and OSHA
  • Inspect, test, dissemble, clean, reassemble, and troubleshoot all respiratory equipment as required.
  • Provides patient education regarding respiratory home care and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
  • Communicates with interdisciplinary services about patient needs as indicated.
  • Maintains competencies of all job related duties; infection control, OSHA blood borne pathogens, TB/respiratory protection plan, policies and procedures, disaster manual, safety Manual.
  • Is willing to be flexible to meet patient care needs.
  • Cooperates to provide coverage when needed.
  • Cross trains to other areas as needed.
  • Accepts assignments willingly.
