About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist works closely with Physicians, Nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive quality care. Their job is to administer medications and respiratory treatments to help treat or cure respiratory illnesses. They may also be responsible for helping patients learn more about respiratory conditions, their causes and how to care for themselves at home. Respiratory Therapists are responsible for performing all duties of respiratory care for patients of all ages under the guidance of a physician. They utilize patient assessment and therapeutic skill to provide respiratory services in accordance to practices and standards, according to policies and procedures. Pulmonary function testing training is offered to Respiratory Therapists.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Graduate from an AMA credentialed respiratory therapy program
  • Current Illinois State Licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Basic computer skill with Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, EMR, etc...
  • Demonstrate the ability to assess, collect, and interpret appropriate data needed to identify the patient's needs relative to age specific responses and communicate such information to patient care team
  • BLS/CPR and ACLS certified or willing to obtain ACLS certification upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of experience preferred
