The Respiratory Therapist directs and provides professional respiratory therapy for an assigned group of patients across the age continuum, from a minimum of 12 years and/or adult stature to geriatric patients requiring or seeking pain and/or surgical intervention. The role involves utilizing assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to direct or provide care, practicing under the guidance of physicians to ensure all respiratory care, from diagnosis to therapeutic treatment, is properly carried out. The therapist is expected to work well under pressure and in emergencies, be detail-oriented, able to follow exact instructions, and work effectively both in a team and independently. The position requires considerable computer proficiency, a professional demeanor, and adherence to HIPAA policy, maintaining confidentiality of patients, coworkers, and facility information. The therapist must report any known or suspected activity violating laws, rules, regulations, or the SP Code of Conduct and fulfill annual Cornerstone continuing education requirements.
