About The Position

Under minimal supervision, the Respiratory Therapist provides routine and complex respiratory therapy treatment to patients and performs a variety of routine pulmonary function tests according to established procedures in order to provide data used in diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease/ailments. In doing so, the therapist interprets physicians' orders, obtains pertinent patient information, arranges and sets up necessary supplies and equipment, and monitors equipment regularly for proper functioning and records data obtained during therapy in patient charts. The therapist also assists in monitoring department procedures, recommends enhancements, and assists in developing procedures as requested. Requirements

  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program, as determined by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or proof of registry eligible status
  • State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure within six months of employment
  • Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) within 24 months of employment
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) within 24 months of employment
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within 24 months of employment

Responsibilities
