About The Position

A respiratory therapist provides assessment, treatment, and monitoring of cardiopulmonary disease across the continuum of care. A respiratory therapist functions as part of an interdisciplinary team that coordinates and provides continuity of care in a financially responsible manner. A respiratory therapist is able to quickly and accurately assess a patient's condition and communicates effectively to the care team concerning changes in patient's condition, results of diagnostic studies, symptomatology, and response to treatment.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function with initiative and independent judgment.
  • Desire for continuous quality improvement.
  • National Board for Respiratory Care entry level certification (CRT) prior to first day of employment.
  • Valid permission (permanent or temporary permit) to practice with the licensing board in the state of hire prior to first day of employment.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist credential required upon hire or by the end of one year of employment.
  • Basic Life Support certification required upon hire or within 90 days from date of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or equivalent required upon hire or within 6 months from date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or healthcare related field.
  • Previous hospital experience.
  • Additional NBRC specialty credentials.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification where applicable.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification where applicable.
