The Ventilator Patient Specialist role involves managing a specific number of ALS and/or Pediatric ventilation patients within a defined territory. This specialist will serve as the primary contact for the patient, caregiver, and any other entity directly involved in the patient’s ventilation care.

Requirements

  • Background check (company-wide)
  • Drug screen (when applicable for the position)
  • Compliance with healthcare facility credentialing process (when applicable for the position)
  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence with a clean driving record (when applicable for the position)
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must be licensed in primary state of home office as required by state law and provide a copy of license to the location
  • Pediatric and/or ALS Ventilation experience
  • Deductive problem solving skills
  • Effectively communicate in English; both oral and written, with physicians, location employees and patients to ensure questions and concerns are processed in a timely manner
  • Interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of communication mediums
  • Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical Equipment (HME)
  • Maintain confidentiality and practice discretion and caution when handling sensitive information
  • Make appropriate recommendations for changes to patient care as dictated by patient assessment
  • Multi-task along with attention to detail
  • Read and successfully interpret written directions and/or instructions in English
  • Review patient charts and discern compliance with Rotech’s policies and procedures
  • Self-motivation, organized, time-management and deductive problem solving skills
  • Sense of urgency and responsiveness to physicians, location employees and patients
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Email transmission and communication
  • Proficiency in Internet navigation and research
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications; Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Proficiency in Office equipment; fax machine, copier, printer, phone and computer and/or tablet
  • Required to comply with Rotech Respiratory Protection & N95 Mask Fit Testing Policy
  • Medical Evaluation and Fit Testing Compliance in a timely manner
  • Annual Recertification
  • Keep face clean-shaven to ensure N95 Mask face-seal protection per OSHA guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Credentials as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) is preferred but other medical credentials may be acceptable (e.g., RN) depending upon state licensure laws
  • Completion of an accredited program/degree in respiratory care preferred; nursing (RN) may be acceptable depending upon state licensure laws
  • Home respiratory care experience or equivalent hospital experience
  • May be required to obtain license in neighboring states as required by defined service area of location
  • Proficient in the use of equipment download software (Care Orchestrator, Astral, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Available for on-call assignments as needed; responsible for phone consultations during non-business hours
  • Maintains continuing education as necessary for performance of job responsibilities and as required for state licensure or certification
  • Maintains documentation of all services provided and all work performed per Rotech’s policies and procedures
  • Maintains records and workspace in an organized, safe, clean, and neat fashion
  • Maintains up-to-date licensure certification or other requirements per state law in the state(s) of practice
  • Supports orientation and training of other personnel at the direction of the Manager
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by state licensure law or by the Manager
  • Patient assessment
  • Provides patient education as applicable
  • Sets up all highly technical respiratory equipment
  • Monitors ongoing function of highly technical respiratory equipment
