Responsible for providing quality assessment, therapeutic interventions, and clinical expertise to the neonatal/pediatric/adult population in the transport environment. In conjunction with the Transport Nurse Clinician, acts as a resource hospital wide for patient care standards and pre-code recognition. Patient care is provided in accordance with established policy and procedures, medical protocols, and/or direct on-line consultation with the appropriate medical control physician within the transport environment (ambulance, helicopter, fixed wing). - Safely initiates, performs and maintains competency in the areas of: therapeutic modalities, monitors and diagnostics, mechanical ventilation, protocols and consults, specialty gas administration, medication administration, and documentation. - Identifies and responds to emergent/urgent situations. - Assesses patient and provides interventions according to PALS, NRP, and ACLS protocols in an emergent situation or after consulting with Medical Control physician and/or referring and attending physician. Provides a safe environment while maximizing clinical expertise during interfacility transports. - Exercises independent judgment in situations when sudden clinical changes occur. Understands interventions made and outcomes to expect. - Collaborates with team members in the planning and provision of optimal patient care during the transport process including patient placement. - Contributes to the identification of a potential diagnosis, interventions, and expected outcomes specific to the defined patient population. Interprets patient labs, CXR, scans, and overall patient assessment. - Participates as a member of the Rapid Response Team. Provides a supportive role in traumas and codes. Provides internal support to the hospital within the resource role. - Assists in the development, implementation and evaluation of Children’s Transport departmental policies, procedures and care standards for the transport patient population. - Acts as an engaged team member by identifying personal, departmental and hospital goals. Collaborates in a positive manner towards the success of the goals by offering input, ideas and solutions. - Maintains advanced airway skills through ongoing training. Keeps current regarding Respiratory Care and Transport Medicine trends and developments. Provides for developmental growth for self and others. Requirements: - Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required. Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred -At least 3 years experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) required, with at least 2+ years critical care experience in neonatal, pediatric, or adult populations required - License Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) - State of Wisconsin required - CRT and RRT-Registered Respiratory Therapist - The National Board for Respiratory Care required - BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Maintains ability to rotate shifts and/or work flexible hours to meet department and patient care needs. - Demonstrates basic computer skills - Demonstrates strong and effective communication skills - Demonstrates analytical skills necessary to resolve complex clinical problems. - Demonstrates ability to work independently and utilize time management, prioritization and multi-tasking skills. - Demonstrates ability to assemble complex equipment and perform tasks which require fine motor skills. - Demonstrates ability to cope with physically and mentally stressful situations. - Must pass pre-placement physical exam and meet health requirements for flying within the physical capacity evaluation prior to hire and annually. - Transport team must meet height requirements of not greater than 6ft 2in., not less than 4 ft 10 in. - Transport team members must maintain a mission ready weight less than 245 pounds. Mission ready is defined as your weight including the flight suit, boots, helmet with liner, coat with liner, and any other personal items that you carry. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy required. Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred
