About The Position

Position Summary A Respiratory Therapy Extern is defined as a person who is a full time student in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program and works at the hospital in addition to their clinical studies. Under supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist, the extern will perform basic tasks, which have been learned in class and practiced in the School setting. These tasks have also been practiced withdemonstrated competency during clinical rotations at a Tenet hospital. Upon graduating from the Respiratory Care Program, the employee must pass their Board Exam and obtain their state license within 6 months of graduation. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be a full time student in good standing in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.
• Employee is required to provide a letter of good standing every 90 days from their Respiratory Therapy Program, or consent to allowing the company to conduct an updated educational background check.
• Successful completion of academic and clinical competencies, specific for each task.
• Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
