About The Position
As a Seasonal PRN Respiratory Therapist at Medical City Dallas, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care. This position is designed for those who are enthusiastic about contributing to a leading healthcare provider dedicated to the growth and development of its colleagues. You will coordinate and deliver respiratory care in accordance with the specific requirements of the department, ensuring compliance with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Your responsibilities will include performing diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, as well as monitoring patients receiving both invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation. In this role, you will be expected to conduct thorough patient assessments, which include evaluating breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will administer various respiratory care therapies, such as oxygen delivery and aerosol medication delivery, and assist with the placement of artificial airways. Additionally, you will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation, ensuring that patients are closely monitored for therapeutic responses. In the event of any unintended responses, you will notify the provider and intervene as necessary. You will also be responsible for assisting with the transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and responding to emergent situations to ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation efforts. This position requires a commitment to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period, including three weekend shifts and two holiday shifts over a 32-week period. You may also be required to float to other facilities within close geography to meet emergent staffing needs. Please note that as a Seasonal Staff member, you will be classified as PRN status and will not be guaranteed hours by the hospital. However, you will be eligible for a 401(k) plan and retirement contributions as per the PRN policy.
