Respiratory Therapist – Casual Opportunity at UPMC Muncy Shape the future of patient care while enjoying flexibility! UPMC Muncy is seeking a Casual Respiratory Therapist to join our dedicated team. Schedule Details: One 12-hour shift per pay period (36 hours per six-week schedule) One major holiday per year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s) Education time does not count toward minimum hours requirement What You’ll Do: As a Respiratory Therapist, you’ll provide essential respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary conditions under physician direction. Requirements

  • Education: Graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Care program
  • Licensure: Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Respiratory Therapists who earned their RRT credential after July 1, 2002 must maintain certification per NBRC requirements
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) (AHA standards, including didactic and skills demonstration, within 30 days of hire)
  • Clearances: Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance (with renewal)
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance (with renewal)
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance (with renewal)

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient conditions, interpret prescriptions, and determine therapy requirements
  • Administer inhalants, monitor vital signs, and perform pulmonary function tests
  • Set up and operate ventilators and therapeutic equipment
  • Respond to code situations and assist with transporting ventilated patients
  • Maintain accurate patient charts and supervise students during training
  • Evaluate medical orders and optimize clinical objectives
