About The Position

The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs patient assessments and procedures related to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. This role involves performing therapist-driven protocols, patient assessments, administration of medications, and evaluating patient responses to therapies. The therapist documents performance and results of therapies according to policy and procedures, including NICU transport. They also maintain the Order Entry and Charging system related to services rendered, assist with data collection for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and supervise and assist in the training of new employees and students. Additionally, the therapist cleans, assembles, maintains, and troubleshoots all Respiratory Care Department equipment while utilizing supplies and resources in a cost-effective manner. Participation as a member of the CPR team is also required.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of Level I and II therapist competency requirements.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure by the State of Michigan.
  • Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • At least six (6) months of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
  • BCLS certification.
