We are seeking a skilled and dependable Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our team on a per diem basis. In this role, you will provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across a variety of clinical settings, supporting both acute and chronic respiratory needs. This position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work with a collaborative healthcare team.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA, JRCTE, or CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program (minimum Associate’s degree required)
  • Current New York State Respiratory Therapist license
  • Current RRT license
  • Proficiency in respiratory therapy modalities, including mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, patient assessment, and ABG collection/analysis
  • Current BLS- American Heart Association
  • Minimum of one (1) year of critical care experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory therapies; consult with physicians to clarify or modify orders as needed
  • Provide patients and families with clear verbal and written education regarding respiratory care and treatment plans
  • Accurately document critical values and patient information in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to support patient care decisions, including timely intervention in emergency situations
  • Deliver comprehensive airway management, including intubation, tracheostomy care, airway clearance, and treatment of bronchospasm and airway inflammation
  • Perform extubations when appropriate and provide post-extubation airway care
  • Provide respiratory care across all patient populations (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) in critical care, non-critical care, and emergency settings
  • Initiate, manage, and monitor invasive and non-invasive ventilation for critically ill patients
  • Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Assemble, maintain, and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment
