About The Position

At Valley Regional Hospital, patients are the center of our coordinated care system and right now we have an opening for a Respiratory Therapist to join our team. The primary responsibility of the Respiratory Therapist is to maintain knowledge of the various methods of oxygen delivery, including the necessary equipment, and to remain alert, assessing possible side effects to oxygen delivery. The role includes setting up and monitoring mechanical ventilators and performing critical care duties such as airway management and tracheal suctioning. Additionally, the therapist will perform arterial punctures for blood gas analysis, conduct EKGs, and formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs of patients and their families. The therapist is expected to treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, coordinating and directing patient care to ensure needs are met and hospital policy is followed.

Requirements

• Current State Respiratory Therapist Licensure.
• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
• Successful completion of Neonatal Resuscitation certification.
• Three or more years of previous experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services.
• High integrity and ability to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of the various methods of oxygen delivery, including the necessary equipment.
• Sets-up and monitors mechanical ventilators and performs critical care duties.
• Performs arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples for blood gas analysis.
• Performs EKGs, types report interpretations, and sends reports to physicians.
• Follows the five medication rights to reduce potential medication errors.
• Formulates a teaching plan based on identified learning needs of a patient.
• Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.
• Coordinates and directs patient care to ensure patients' needs are met.
