About The Position

Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital is looking for a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our team. The role involves providing therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary care for both inpatients and outpatients 24/7, administering therapeutic medical gases, delivering aerosol therapy, and evaluating the effectiveness of prescribed therapies. The position also includes assisting with procedures related to continuous ventilation, airway management, and diagnostic testing techniques.

Requirements

  • Must be registered and/or certified and licensed by the state of Texas in Respiratory Care.
  • Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRT) or registry eligibility is required.
  • Must be BLS certified; ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of combined clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide therapeutic and diagnostic pulmonary care for inpatients and outpatients 24/7.
  • Administer therapeutic medical gases and deliver aerosol therapy.
  • Administer prescribed pharmacological medications and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Assist with procedures for long and short-term continuous ventilation and airway management.
  • Conduct pulmonary postural drainage or chest physiotherapy.
  • Assist in diagnostic and therapeutic testing techniques such as Pulmonary Function testing, Bronchoscopies, EKG, ABG, and Exercise and Nocturnal oximetry studies.
  • Perform oronasal and/or tracheal suctioning.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient therapy and department records.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret information to identify patient requirements.
  • Provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competencies initially and annually.
