About The Position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for providing respiratory care to patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. This role involves assessing patients' respiratory needs, implementing care plans, and collaborating with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The practitioner must maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety and infection control protocols while promoting effective communication within the facility.

Requirements

  • Must possess an Associate Degree from an accredited school.
  • Graduate of a respiratory care program is required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in the health care field is preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year respiratory experience in an acute and/or subacute unit is preferred.
  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner verification license for the state of practice (if applicable).
  • Current CPR/BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and follow schedule/instructions from the supervisor and established policies and procedures.
  • Perform focused interviews to identify specific patients' needs.
  • Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data from healthcare members and document actual and/or potential diagnoses.
  • Plan for outcomes of care for assigned patients.
  • Perform interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and hospital policies.
  • Adhere to emergency, safety, and infection control procedures.
  • Promote and participate in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications.
  • Report changes in the patient's respiratory status to the Director/Supervisor of Respiratory Care Services, the responsible nurse, and the physician as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-department personnel and other departments within the facility.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
