About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. As a vital part of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist performs a variety of diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures and monitors patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation. Parkridge East Hospital is a 120+ bed facility in East Ridge. We provide a full range of medical and surgical services. These services include orthopedics and robotic surgery. We have a 24/7 Emergency Department. This ED is recognized by the Society of Chest Pain Centers as an Accredited Chest Pain Center. The facility also offers obstetrical care and complex gynecological procedures. We also hold a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Specialized providers in the NICU include neonatologists, neonatal nurses and respiratory therapists. These staff are on site at all times. Visit us for excellent general and OB care! Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
TN RRT/RCP license with ABG endorsement required
1 year of NICU experience required
BLS health care provider within 30 days
ACLS required within 6 months of hire
Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
STABLE must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date

Responsibilities

Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
Assist with placement of artificial airways.
Initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
Monitor patient for therapeutic response.
Notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
Respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
