The Respiratory Therapist I (entry level practitioner) performs all necessary routine respiratory care procedures associated with acute or critically ill neonatal, pediatric, or adult patient populations and is able to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team. He/she initiates and maintains appropriate therapy, including life support technique and equipment. Provides, preventable, supportive, and corrective interventions related to the cardio-pulmonary system in assigned patient care areas in accordance with established hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and all applicable regulations and standards. Applies the knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate interactions with staff, patients, and families of all ages. Minimum competency in all applicable clinical skills must be demonstrated and maintained. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Adheres to AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

  • Performs bedside spirometry, overnight oximetry studies, six minute walk tests.
  • Conventional Ventilator Management per ventilator management protocol including ventilator set up and routine ventilator checks, and provides intra-hospital transport.
  • Documentation and charging for all interactions with patients according to department and hospital guidelines.
  • Assesses and/or interprets data about the patient's status to identify each patient's needs and provide appropriate care, including age-related care.
  • Identifies and applies planning care and/or intervention techniques appropriate to the physical, cognitive and psychosocial characteristics of each patient population served.
  • Graduate from a Respiratory Therapy program is required. AAS or AS is required.
  • Must have valid Florida license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist or Certified Respiratory Therapist.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.
  • NRP must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Current Florida State License as a Registered Respiratory Therapist, or a Certified Respiratory Therapist.
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or CRT credential from the NBRC.
