About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for setting up and demonstrating medical and testing equipment to patients, providing both in-person and remote support. This role emphasizes delivering a first-class patient experience through effective communication and education regarding respiratory therapies and equipment. The position requires maintaining operations at the Austin facility, ensuring patient adherence to therapy, and acting as a liaison between patients and healthcare teams.

Requirements

  • RPSGT, RRT, or eligible for National Board of Respiratory Care certification and state licensing requirements.
  • Active BLS card.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a licensed Respiratory Therapist, preferably in DME/Sleep industry.
  • Knowledgeable in equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Familiar with Infection Control and Universal Precautions.
  • Intermediate MS Office skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a patient care environment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to work overtime as scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and demonstrate medical and testing equipment to patients.
  • Maintain daily operations at the Austin facility, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Provide remote patient support through video conferencing and telephone communications.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and patient coaching to improve therapy adherence.
  • Educate patients on Sleep Apnea, CPAP, oxygen therapy, and BetterNight's services.
  • Document patient history and notes in the Brightree system.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for respiratory and HME equipment.
  • Act as an advocate for patients and liaise with healthcare team members.
  • Instruct patients and caregivers on the proper use of respiratory equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with state laws regarding licensure for Respiratory Therapists.
  • Handle patient calls regarding equipment setup and therapy issues.
  • Provide accurate price quotes and explain insurance coverage to patients.
  • Maintain and clean medical equipment as per company policies.
  • Deliver and pick up equipment from patient homes or facilities.
