The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs patient assessments and procedures related to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with cardiopulmonary disorders. This role includes performing therapist-driven protocols, patient assessments, administration of medications, and evaluating patient responses to therapies. The therapist documents performance and results of therapies according to policy and procedures, assists with data collection for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and supervises and trains new employees and students. Additionally, the therapist is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting Respiratory Care Department equipment and participates as a member of the CPR team.

  • Perform therapist-driven protocols and patient assessments.
  • Administer medications and evaluate patient response to therapies.
  • Document performance and results of therapies according to policy and procedures.
  • Assist with data collection and projects for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
  • Supervise and assist in the training of new employees and students.
  • Clean, assemble, maintain, and troubleshoot Respiratory Care Department equipment.
  • Participate as a member of the CPR team.
  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapy associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have completed Level I and II therapist competency requirements.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure by the State of Michigan.
  • Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • At least six (6) months of clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
