About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist II Per Diem at TMC Rincon is responsible for providing respiratory care under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Services Medical Director and Department Manager. This role involves assessing, evaluating, and administering respiratory care and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies across various hospital settings, including adult/pediatric general floors, intensive care units, and emergency departments. The therapist will also complete preceptor training and mentor new staff members.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care Program.
  • One (1) year of experience delivering advanced respiratory care services to adult patient populations.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current Arizona License to Practice Respiratory Care.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NPR) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage respiratory care to ensure that patient's needs are met and hospital policy is followed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of treatment modalities for all age-specific groups.
  • Document all pertinent data in the medical record before, during, and after patient interventions.
  • Maintain knowledge of electronic health records and departmental forms.
  • Administer inhaled medications and evaluate patient response to therapy.
  • Perform arterial blood gas puncture, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Respond to airway emergencies and cardiac arrest calls.
  • Initiate and manage mechanical ventilation for all age-specific groups.
  • Assist in bedside therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures.
  • Manage, operate, clean, and test respiratory equipment.
  • Develop care plans and provide education on disease management.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary patient rounds.
  • Attend department meetings and education opportunities.
  • Participate in performance and process improvement activities.
  • Adhere to organizational and departmental policies.
