Provides evaluation of and care for patients with respiratory insufficiencies. The position involves assessing patients for appropriate treatment types and frequencies, developing care plans based on diagnoses, implementing and monitoring patient care plans and equipment, and performing advanced respiratory care modalities. The role also includes evaluating respiratory practices, administering medications, and educating patients and families about health conditions and available community support. Additionally, the position requires responding to emergency resuscitation team codes.

  • Assesses patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis.
  • Implements and monitors patient care plan and equipment.
  • Monitors, records and communicates patient condition.
  • Performs advanced respiratory care modalities.
  • Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.
  • Educates the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.
  • Responds to emergency resuscitation team code.
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 9 Months (270 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • Respiratory Therapist credentialed from the Michigan Board of Respiratory Care obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
