The position involves applying scientific knowledge and therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care during all phases of air and/or ground medical transport. As a team member in the delivery of respiratory services, and under medical direction, the role includes performing a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs of various age groups. Responsibilities include collaborating with other members of the health care team, performing evaluations to determine respiratory care needs, and making appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines.

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• State of Michigan Respiratory Therapist License upon hire.
• CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry from NBRC upon hire.
• CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from AHA within 90 days.
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC within 90 days.
• CRT-Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from AHA within 180 days.
• 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine or equivalent clinical education.
• 1 year of relevant experience working as a Respiratory Therapist in Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care preferred.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
• Experience in Pediatric Intensive Care.

Responsibilities

• Applies scientific knowledge and therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care during all phases of air and/or ground medical transport.
• Performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs.
• Collaborates with other members of the health care team and uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses.
• Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs and makes appropriate recommendations.
• Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
• Performs point of care testing as required.
• Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
• Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
• Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
• Maintains all transport equipment in a state of constant readiness.
• Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services.
• Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs.
