As a Respiratory Therapist, you will apply scientific knowledge and therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care during all phases of air and/or ground medical transport. You will collaborate with other members of the health care team and use clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions. You will perform evaluations to determine respiratory care needs and make appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • LIC-Respiratory Therapist - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire.
  • CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care Upon Hire.
  • CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA American Heart Association Regional Hospitals and NICU 90 Days.
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days.
  • CRT-Pediatric Adv Life Support (PALS) - AHA American Heart Association Flight/Transport 180 Days.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine or equivalent clinical education.
  • 1 year of relevant experience working as a Respiratory Therapist in Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care.

Responsibilities

  • Applies scientific knowledge and therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care during all phases of air and/or ground medical transport.
  • Performs a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs of various age groups.
  • Collaborates with other members of the health care team and uses clinical judgment skills to diagnose and treat patient responses.
  • Performs evaluation to determine respiratory care needs and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Assesses effectiveness of treatment and accurately documents according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
  • Performs point of care testing as required.
  • Completes and documents required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
  • Maintains competency in areas of accountability.
  • Accurate and timely completion of all necessary documentation and billing.
  • Maintains all transport equipment in a state of constant readiness.
  • Facilitates a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services.
  • Instructs and trains other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs.
