Specializes in the promotion of optimum cardiopulmonary function and health. Assists in assessing, stabilizing, and evaluating patients requiring critical care transport.   • Provides continuous monitoring and care of the patient per protocol during transport.
  • Maintains documentation of patient assessment and condition, interventions required, and communication processes on the transport record.
  • Administers medication in accordance with policies and procedures of Critical Care Transport Department and respiratory scope of practice.
  • In conjunction with the Physician Consult Transfer Center (PCTC) and NCH Dispatch, organizes rapid transport mobilization and assures appropriate utilization of resources.
  • Engages in the 'workplace community' by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding Quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.
  • Contributes to a continuous learning culture by helping others learn.
  • Assists in documentation of medical histories, symptoms, and vital signs for assigned patients.
  • Provides high quality services that internal and external stakeholders describe as excellent.
  • Associate’s degree from AMA-accredited Respiratory Care program or Bachelor’s degree, required.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist with current license to practice in the State of Ohio, required.
  • BLS, NRP, PALS, ACLS, and trauma course prior to completion of orientation, required.
  • Completion of the Transport Therapist Training Program and Preceptorship, required.
  • Advanced certification within one year of completing orientation that is specific to the program’s patient population, required.
  • Three years of critical care experience, required.
  • One year of neonatal intensive care experience, preferred.
  • Experience in a pediatric setting.
  • Familiarity with quality improvement processes.
