About The Position

The position is for a part-time Registered Respiratory Therapist at Atrium Health Stanly, specifically within the Respiratory Therapy Services department. The role involves performing all aspects of direct respiratory care according to physician's orders and approved protocols. The therapist will consult with physicians on the effectiveness of therapy and make appropriate recommendations, provide ventilator support, and maintain and monitor cardiopulmonary life support equipment. The position requires working weekend nights and is eligible for a sign-on bonus based on eligibility. The pay range for this position is $30.15 - $45.25 per hour.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
  • Associate's RRT or RRT Equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of North Carolina.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.
  • Advanced certifications per facility policy/standards.
  • 2 years' critical care experience required for free-standing Emergency Department.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge in various modes and methods of oxygen delivery and the equipment needed for each.
  • Conducts prescribed therapeutic procedures to achieve adequate oxygenation.
  • Administers therapeutic procedures, understanding their purpose, benefits, and possible effects.
  • Performs diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
  • Initiates, monitors, and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators.
  • Independently evaluates current therapies and makes recommendations concerning plans of care.
  • Documents therapy and results as required by hospital, department, and regulatory agencies.
  • Communicates information to appropriate members of the healthcare team.
  • Initiates, conducts, and modifies respiratory care techniques in emergency settings.
  • Performs and evaluates blood sampling analysis and understands the importance of abnormal results.
  • Works independently in all patient care areas and assists co-workers with patient care.
  • Follows departmental safety guidelines and completes all regulatory requirements.
  • Completes annual proficiency evaluation of respiratory care equipment and procedures.
  • Is proficient in electronic medical records and its interface with the Respiratory Care Department.
