About The Position

Responsible for the administration of pharmacological, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care procedures necessary to implement treatment, disease prevention, pulmonary rehabilitative, or diagnostic regime prescribed by a physician. The transcription and implementation of the written or verbal orders of a physician pertaining to the practice of respiratory care. Proper assessment, observation and monitoring of signs and symptoms, general behavior, and general physical response to respiratory care treatments and diagnostic testing. Recommend and implement appropriate respiratory care procedures and protocols based on observed abnormalities. Implement changes in treatment pursuant to the written or verbal orders of a physician. The ability to assess and initiate emergency procedures. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery to achieve desired patient outcomes. Performs all other duties required. Essential Functions Makes informed care decisions based on assessments. Communicates effectively with coworkers, hospital staff, physicians, and administration. Adapts positively to change and resolves issues using appropriate channels. Collaborates with the team and supports group decisions. Provides timely, relevant information to supervisors and documents accurately. Maintains a clean, safe environment and correctly uses personal protective equipment. Participates in daily Patient Safety Huddles and follows patient safety protocols. Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills across all age groups and seeks guidance when needed. Performs and reports Arterial Blood Gas procedures accurately and on time. Follows respiratory protocols and maintains competency with ventilation equipment. Administers medications safely, following policies, and documents appropriately. Cleans and sterilizes respiratory equipment and sets up treatments per physician orders. Monitors mechanical ventilation and environmental systems. Demonstrates strong judgment in crisis management and emergency care. Actively contributes to process improvements and performs additional duties as needed Job Knowledge (RRT only) Demonstrates proficiency in all Adult Non-Critical Care areas related to credential. Demonstrates proficiency in all Pedi/Neonatal Non –Critical Care areas related to credentials Demonstrates current knowledge and level of expertise required to care for patients Demonstrates proficiency in Adult Critical Care, including Ventilator management Demonstrates proficiency in at least one of three critical care specialties (Adult, Pediatrics, Neonatal)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Respiratory Therapy or Technical Program credentials through NBRC (RTT only)
  • License/Registration - Issued by Florida or Compact State
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Advanced Life Support (ACLS)- American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Pediatric Life Support (PALS)- American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Four (4) years of Respiratory Therapy experience required
