As a Respiratory Support Technician, you will support the Respiratory Therapy department in many clinical activities, under the direction of a licensed Respiratory Therapist. You will perform targeted rounding in active patient areas to recover assets for processing and redistribution. This allows for ample opportunities to experience a wide range of patient populations and different patient care activities performed by Respiratory Therapists. This role offers ample opportunities for growth within Cleveland Clinic, including a scholarship opportunity and the chance to become certified as a Respiratory Therapist. A caregiver in this position works rotating Saturday and Sunday days from 7:00AM – 3:00PM.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent with a strong background in Math and Science
Completion of an Accredited Respiratory Program within five years of hire in order to continue employment
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required within new hire period
Must be able to walk long distances while pushing a cart of equipment/supplies.
Must be able to lift equipment in excess of 35 lbs.
Push/pull loaded carts of equipment in excess of 100 lbs.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required by department.
You will be required to comply with this program, which will include obtaining an influenza vaccination on an annual basis or obtaining an approved exemption.

Responsibilities

Clean, deliver, evaluate and inspect specified medical devices (such as infusion pumps, syringe pumps, feeding pumps, PCA pumps, DVT pumps, specialty beds, specialty carts and procedural trays).
Document work activity in an electronic database.
Deliver and recover specialty carts and procedural trays.
Follow up and assist with administrative duties.
Stock and take inventory of Respiratory Therapy equipment and supplies.
Operate laboratory equipment within scope of role.
Perform EKGs.
Record vital signs including pulse oximetry spot checks.
Stock and take inventory of inhaled medications.
Set up and download overnight pulse oximetry trend studies.
Assist Respiratory Therapists with relaying new or urgent orders.
