About The Position

The Respiratory Educator assumes responsibility for coordinating, teaching, and evaluating various educational programs as assigned. Position incumbent embodies process and systems thinking and problem solving abilities. The Educator will operate independently and will interact with many disciplines and levels of staff/leaders in the organization. Educator will demonstrate a commitment to the development of others and be a positive change agent. Engages with others through effective communication and teamwork. Person should exemplify life-long learning through personal responsibility and ongoing self-growth and development. Will be assigned a workload distribution as needed in order for operations to run smoothly. Work demands may require flexibility in hours, days of the week, and location. The Educator is a professional resource for the Respiratory Care team at all CoxHealth hospitals.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Program
  • Two years’ experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Provides care as appropriate to age of population served
  • Able to manage multiple assignments/manage projects
  • Demonstrates initiative and proactive practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to utilize educational framework
  • Emphasis on safe care delivery
  • Emphasis on quality outcomes
  • Emphasis on education/ evidence-based research
  • Provide accurate and appropriate education to patients, students and new staff.
  • Possess assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Possess in depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Adheres to infection prevention practices and facility safety policies and procedures.
  • Able to communicate effectively to act as a professional resource to the health care team.
  • Missouri State License for Respiratory
  • RRT credential from the NBRC
  • Obtain PALS within 365 days of hire for working in the Pediatric floor and in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Obtain ACLS within 365 days of hire for working in critical care unit
  • Obtain NRP within 365 days of hire for working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
