About The Position

The Respiratory Care Provider (RCP) reports to the THI Assistant Director - Cardiopulmonary Wellness and works as an integral part of the multidisciplinary Cardiopulmonary Wellness team. The RCP provides care direct patient care for patients participating in the Pulmonary Rehabilitation program, including assisting with patient orientations, clinical monitoring, patient education, therapy instruction, clinical documentation, implementing individual care plans and progression. Assists with supervised/monitored exercise classes with multiple high-risk patients, including entering data into the telemetry monitoring system, assisting with supplemental oxygen and accurately assessing patient response to exercise, including blood pressure, oxygen saturation, heart rate, RPE/RPD, dyspnea, blood sugar, orthopedic limitations, and symptoms. Understands and utilizes behavior modification techniques and coaching skills to empower patients to make conscious choices regarding their health. Actively participates in team meetings to review patient’s progress, goals, and plans. Assists with accurately entering program outcomes, billing, and creating reports. The RCP collaborates and communicates effectively with the multidisciplinary team, physicians, patients, and patients’ families for optimal patient and program outcomes. Performs resting 12-lead EKG, HAST and pulmonary stress tests, as well as breathing-device instruction. Assists with handling, filling and management of liquid oxygen tanks.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years or more experience in the field of Respiratory Care.
  • One (1) year or more experience in an acute care setting.
  • Understanding of pulmonary devices, oxygen delivery systems, and pulmonary medications.
  • Ability to instruct patients effectively.
  • Proficient in the English language.
  • Type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in outpatient pulmonary testing.

Benefits

  • Per diem - as needed position.
  • Pay range of $60.25 to $80.60 based on years of applicable experience.
  • Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $3.56.
  • Hourly Night Shift Differential: $5.34.
