About The Position

The Respiratory Care Professional at Blanchard Valley Hospital is responsible for performing therapeutic, diagnostic, and monitoring procedures in a clinical respiratory care setting. This role includes participation in patient and family education, ensuring high-quality service, and maintaining equipment and supplies. The position requires the ability to multi-task and adapt to busy or stressful situations, as well as proficiency in emergency measures and ventilator support for patients of all ages.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved school for respiratory care.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Professional by the State of Ohio.
• RRT credentialed by the NBRC, no exceptions for those graduating in 2015 or beyond.
• Successfully complete ACLS, BCLS, PALS, and NRP within 3 months of hire.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.

Nice To Haves

• Experience performing EKG's.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and perform duties per policies and procedures while maintaining a high level of service and quality.
• Institute and assist with emergency measures such as Code Blue; proficient in infant, pediatric, and adult ventilator support including CPAP and BiPAP.
• Assess and document patient respiratory status, review orders written by providers, report problems to the healthcare team, and follow with proper documentation and goal setting.
• Ensure economical and safe use of all equipment and supplies.
• Provide education to staff, patients, and family members to enhance communication between Pulmonary Services and other associates.
• Participate in departmental improvement projects, revise policies/procedures, and assist in implementing changes for efficient care delivery.
• Follow department management lines, demonstrate problem-solving skills, and seek guidance as needed.
