Genesis HealthCare System currently has both full-time and PRN opportunities available within our Outpatient Respiratory Clinics. Our clinics are located in Zanesville, Coshocton, and Somerset. to express your interest! Overview of the position: Delivers patients care and diagnostic testing according to professional practice standards, while providing support for Genesis HealthCare System divisions. Acts as a resource through making decisions utilizing critical thinking. Reviews existing clinical data, collects or recommends obtaining additional pertinent clinical data. Evaluates all data to determine the appropriateness of the prescribed respiratory care plan and participates in the development of the respiratory care plan. Assembles, and assures cleanliness of all equipment used in providing respiratory care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a CoARC approved respiratory program.
  • RRT or CRT required.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) credential in good standing.
  • State Medical Board of Ohio Respiratory Care license in good standing.
  • NIOSH training within 2 years of hire date.
  • Ability to read, write, and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff and patients.
  • Attention to detail and ability to organize and prioritize under pressure.
  • Displays common sense and ability to make quick decisions.
  • Experience with therapeutic skills, airway management, and diagnostic testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Recommend CPFT or RPFT certification.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews data in the patient record and recommends diagnostic procedures.
  • Collects and evaluates clinical information.
  • Performs procedures and reports results, determine appropriateness of and participate in developing and recommending modifications to respiratory care plans: spirometry, flow-volume loops, lung volume measurements, DLCO testing, MIP/MEP, Airway resistance, testing, ABG sampling/co-oximetry and analysis; pressure-volume, Cardiopulmonary Stress (CPET) tests, Simple stress tests, bronchial provocation tests, and the administration of nebulized medications.
  • Selects, obtains equipment and assures equipment readiness.
  • Performs quality control procedures for: blood analysis devices; diagnostic equipment; volume/flow/pressure calibration; gas metering devices.
  • Conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to maintain guidelines of the American Thoracic Society (ATS).
  • Evaluates and monitors patient’s response to respiratory care during diagnostic/therapeutic procedures.
  • Checks all equipment and corrects malfunctions.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify when to accept and refer complex issues to the next level to facilitate problem resolution.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with clinical knowledge to be a resource person for new employees.
  • Stays current with department information and changes by reading the weekly Huddle and attending department meetings.
