About The Position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) 1 is an entry-level RCP. The RCP 1 demonstrates competencies in respiratory assessments and procedures for all patient populations and age groups. The RCP 1 performs and interacts as a healthcare professional administering respiratory care procedures in acute care and critical care areas. The RCP 1 demonstrates competency as outlined in the RCP I COT. The RCP 1 focuses on developing critical thinking skills. Under the direction of the Pulmonary Services Leadership team, provides professional respiratory care to patients in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Successful completion of all clinical rotations for respiratory therapy program is required.
• Associate Degree from a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care program is required.
• State of Wisconsin license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner is required.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) for the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required within 12 months of hire.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required within 6 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor degree is preferred.
• American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) and Wisconsin Society for Respiratory Care (WSRC) membership is preferred.
• Advanced certification with crisis de-escalation (MANDT), Hospital HazMat, or special pathogens is preferred.
