About The Position

GENERAL SUMMARY Under the general direction of the transport RN, provides a variety of specialized and routine clinical therapies to the neonatal and pediatric population, utilizing state of the art equipment. Reports to department management of Transport Team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Responds to interfacility transport requests utilizing mobile intensive care units and rotor and fixed wing aircraft. Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care respective to the assigned patient population. Collaborates with other transport team members to ensure the safety of all transport operations. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist from the National Board of Respiratory Care: Current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a pediatric and/or neonatal intensive care unit or previous transport experience.
  • Must have interpersonal skills to communicate detailed clinical observations and evaluations with referring facilities and other care givers during transport.
  • Must have analytical skills necessary to assess patient/family needs during transport, prioritize care based on assessments and develop solutions to problems concerning patient's mental or physical well-being.
  • CPR Training, PALS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) designation required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
  • Must provide record of a completed diploma (or equivalent) or academic transcript for those areas performing complexity testing.
  • Increased Security Clearance for job role required: FBI finger printing, criminal background, educational and personal reference check verification and clearance required for identified job roles.

  • Pediatric experience preferred.
